Located in the centre of Eskdale village this, beautifully presented, holiday cottage enjoys stunning views of the Eskdale valley. Birkhow Holiday Cottage offers comfortable accommodation for up to six people in one double and two twin bedrooms. It has a fully equipped kitchen and a large, light, sitting room with a cosy open fire for those winter evenings. The cottage has a separate dining room with a wood burning stove.The garden has a patio area for barbeques as well as a lawned area.
Eskdale's village shop is just 5 minutes walk from Birkhow cottage and there are two pubs 15 minutes walk from the door.
Birkhow is the perfect starting place for setting out to explore the Lake District's fells and countryside It is also a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house!

Kitchen	with rayburn, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer.
Lounge	Sitting room: with open coal fire, TV & DVD player.
Dining room	Seating for 6. A woodburning stove makes the room cosy and comfortable.

All the bedrooms have a chest of drawers and there is additional storage in the walk in wardrobe in the spacious hallway upstairs.
Bathroom	deep fill freestanding bath. A shower is above the bath for those who prefer showers.

The cottage is no-smoking throughout and has oil central heating.
Pets are very welcome in the cottage, although we are unable to accept more than one dog (unless by prior consent). We charge £15 per dog to cover the extra cleaning costs.

Location of Holiday Cottage in the Lake District

Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk. The river has natural pools for swimming & is a popular for canoeing & fishing. The famous Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley & Irton Road station is only ten mins walk from Birkhow Cottage.
There are 5 pubs in the valley and all welcome children, serve real ales & good food. The village shop and post office is just a five minute walk from Birkhow and sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers, as well as outdoor clothes and equipment. and the Bower House Inn is ten minutes walk away.
