The Blacksmith's Cottage is one of five fascinating houses nestled in the grounds of the Chateau des Barres in the picturesque village of Vernoil-le-Fourrier near Saumur. Guests share a large heated swimming pool with beautiful views of the Loire countryside. This Chateau accommodation is located on the edge of the village and forest. It is surrounded by vineyards, apple orchards and sunflower fields.
This accommodation is a typically French, provincial farmhouse which has has retained many of its original features. The rooms of the cottage are large and spacious with original, oak beamed ceilings. The cottage is furnished with antique, rustic country French furniture in keeping with the style and age of the cottage.
Chateau des Barres is situated just 17km north of the historic town of Saumur on the banks of the Loire. The area has many local attractions and is an ideal family location.

Location of Loire Holiday Cottage

The immediate area around the Blacksmith's Cottage offers lovely villages, market towns and superb countryside. There are some superb restaurants all within easy driving distance. There are many activities to suit all tastes including, horse riding, cycling, swimming, walking and watersports.
The gites office has information on tourist sites, specialist activity afternoons, such as walking, nature trails, yoga, stretch, water aerobics, painting, drawing, wine tasting and fun activities for children.
The cottage is only 15 minutes drive from the historic town of Saumur. The town is an interesting mixture of modern shops, paved walkways, markets and an old town. Futuroscope is only an hour and a half away and many theme parks, zoos and natural attractions all within one hours drive.
