Lemon Tree cottage offers spacious holiday accommodation which is furnished, equipped and maintained to a high standard. Balconies and terraces face all sides of the cottage offering superb views over Fonte Salgada. This is an area of importance to botanists from Faro University. Delightful also for walking and cycling. The cottage sits above the owners villa with ample parking and own access. Full privacy is assurred although the owners are always ready to give any help and advice with all aspects of your holiday.
The cottage is only a few hundred metres from the village of Fonte Salgada and 3kms from the town of Tavira. It's narrow cobbled streets are a delight to explore along with 21 churches and the many distinctive examples of detailed architecture culminating in the ruin of the moorish castle which dominates this beautiful historical town. the river Gilao divides the town and is crossed by an ancient roman bridge. Open air classical concerts and fiestas are frequent throughout the summer period. there is a small shop/tasca in the village with a take away service. the owners speak excellent English. Tavira has large supermarkets, banks, chemists and hairdressers. the fish and local produce market is fantastic and is open six mornings a week. Restaurants are in abundance with a wide variety of choice including typical Algarvian food at excellent prices.

The cottage is only 3kms from the town of Tavira. the Spanish fishing town of Ayamonte is a short drive with elaborate palm tree lined squares and marina. Shell fish can be bought in abundance. An absolute delight to sit at one of the many cafes and watch the world go by.

Coast/Beach near Cottage / Apartment, Portugal

Long sandy beaches are within a few minutes drive with excellent amenities. Ilha de Tavira is a must. this 10km-long island has sheltered bathing and beautiful sandy beaches and is reached by a short ferry crossing taken from Tavira. Excellent fish restaurants are plentiful here. A short drive away is the thriving holiday resort of Monte Gordo, full of atmosphere, long sandy beach and casino. A huge variety of trips and tours are always available at very reasonable cost.

the cottage is very easy to locate and is only a 35 minute drive from Faro airport. A car is not essential but is recommended, public transport and taxis are plentiful. Car hire however is available at the airport for pick up and return. Bicycles are available at the cottage for no extra cost. Tavira is an easy cycle ride away.
