Tavira is one of the oldest towns on the Algarve. It has narrow, cobbled streets, a hilltop castle and 25 churches. The coast in this area is part of the Reserva Natural da Ria Formosa which is a haven for marsh & sea birds.
Tavira town is separated from the sea by the island of Tavira. The island has several bars & restaurants for your refreshment. During the summer, 11 kilometres of white sand beaches can be reached by a ferry from the quay in the centre of the town.
