The north of Thailand is mountainous
and cooler than the rest of the country. This region has a beautiful
natural environment. The pace is slow and activities include
visits to temples, Thai cookery courses, visits to hill tribes,
trekking, elephant rides and rafting. |
| Southern Thailand - Phuket, Krabi & Andaman Coast |
Southern Thailand is a long, narrow
peninsula which is bordered to the west by the Andaman Sea. The
west peninsula beaches are famous for their beauty and crystal
clear water. The island of Phuket an excellent choice of resorts
peaceful retreats. The Patong area offers colourful nightlife
and numerous sailing, kayaking, snorkelling and diving trips
are available. Phang Nga Bay has beautiful, limestone cliffs.
There is excellent accommodation scattered along the Krabi coastline
and Ao Nang Beach. The uninhabited island of Koh Phi Phi was
made famous by the film adaptation of the novel This can be reached
by day trip from Koh Phi Phi Don. Phuket is connected to the
mainland by a bridge and Krabi has its own airport with regular
flights to and from Bangkok. The Islands of Koh Phi Phi, Koh
Lanta and Koh Yao are reached by boat from either Phuket or Krabi. |
| South-east Thailand - Koh Samui, Koh Pha Ngan & Koh Tao |
| Koh Samui is the largest of the island’s
off Thailand’s south-eastern coast line. It offers a wealth
of nightlife and shopping as well as oportunities for quiet,
idyllic holidays. Ko Pha-Ngan lies off the north coast of Koh
Samui. This is a stunning island which is surrounded by a warm
turquoise sea. Koh Pha-Ngan is famous for its monthly full moon
party on Hat Rin Beach. Koh Tao is a quiet, smaller island which
is fringed by coral reefs and an abundance of marine life. Koh
Tao is perfect for diving and snorkelling. |
| Bangkok region |
Bangkok is rich in history and culture.
It is a fascinating city to explore and a great place to sample
Thia cuisine, Visitors can enjoy Thai massage, Thai Boxing, the
Floating Markets. Bangkok accommodation is very cheap. The Kanchanaburi
Province is 130km west of Bangkok. This area includes the River
Kwai and Death Railway. The Khao Yai National Park is a UNESCO
world heritage sight two hours north of Bangkok. This area is
a great for hiking and bird watching. |
| Eastern Thailand - East Coast, Koh Chang, & Hua Hin |
Koh Chang is a beautiful island off
the south-east coast of Thailand. It is surrounded by azure waters
and great for boat trips and snorkellings. The interior is mountainous
jungle with stunning waterfalls. This is great walking.Koh Chang
can be reached by boat from Bangkok. Alternatively a plane can
be taken from Bangkok to Trat, followed by a boat to Ko Chang.
Hua Hin is popular with Thais as well as foreigners. It is one
of Thailand’s oldest resorts and is an official residence
of the Thai royal family. It can easily be reached by plane from
Bangkok. Hua Hin has an excellent range of shops, markets, custom
tailors and an abundance of restaurants. This area also boasts
many world class golf courses with very low green fees. |
